Awards, Grants & Prizes
The Limbless Association offers a number of awards, grants and prizes to encourage, promote, recognize and reward excellence in the prosthetic industry and outstanding achievements in the limb-loss and healthcare communities.
The BAPO Technician Scholarship Award
This is an annual prize given as part of the British Association of Prothetists and Orthotists (BAPO) Conference for prosthetic or orthotic technicians working in the UK. It is the largest prize available to technicians and has raised the profile of the vital role they play in the rehabilitation process.
The prize alternates between an all expenses paid trip to the Leipzig Prosthetic Expo (on years that the expo is held) or a European location of the winners’ choosing (on the years when the Leipzig Expo is not held).
Technicians can apply by letting us know, in no more than 500 words, why they should travel to this location and why they should win this award. We would need an approximate breakdown of costs so we can work within our budget.
The Royal College of Surgeons Educational Grant
This is an educational grant of £1,000 that is awarded to sponsor and endorse a three-day course promoting excellence in amputation surgery at The Royal College of Surgeons.
The Limbless Association recognises the vital role that successful surgery plays in the future comfort of patients and we are therefore very proud to sponsor this course.
The BSRM Advanced Prosthetic & Amputee Rehabilitation Course
This is an annual course run by the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (BSRM) for any clinician involved in amputee rehabilitation and it plays a major role in raising the profile and standard of amputee rehabilitation.
The Limbless Association is proud to annually sponsor this course for £1,000 to ensure that the highest quality of training and development is available to the UK Prosthetic industry.
The ISPO Award
This is an annual award presented as part of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) UK conference.
The prize is a cheque for £150 for an ISPO member who has been able to demonstrate tangible benefits and results for UK patients specifically in the area of socket comfort.
