COME ALONG AND JOIN US AMPUTEES KEEPING FIT SUNDAYS AT 10 AM – 12 PM AT THE WANDLE CENTRE, MAPLETON ROAD, WANDSWORTH. LONDON SW18 4DN. Get out of bed on sundays and help yourself to keep fit.
No one should be excluded. Sport and fitness is for everyone. Male, female, young and old…with or without a disability…everybody needs to exercise to get the best out of life and keep their mind and body going. What better way is there to do that than sport?
The Limbless Association is a national charity that supports the needs of amputees and people born with limb deficiencies. Are you interested in keeping fit? YOU SHOULD BE! A healthier body and mind will help you overcome some of the obstacles in life.
The Limbless Association has compiled a list of useful contacts and other organisations that are involved in disability sports and activities. It is not a complete list, so if you have any other information or details that may be of interest to the limb-loss community then please get in touch and let us know. The list is on the menu to the left.
FITNESS FOR ALL AMPUTEES.
Sports+ is the latest initiative from the Limbless Association to help, support, encourage and promote sports and fitness amongst the limb-loss community. We aim to provide information and access to as many different sports as possible and help amputees get involved in the sport of their choice.
We provide information and contact details for sporting associations and governing bodies, provide advice and access to sport after limb-loss, offer group fitness sessions and professional sports training and create performance pathways, liaising with Paralympics GB, to help locate and encourage elite sportsmen and women.
Whatever your age, fitness level or level of ability our Sports+ coach will adapt a training session to suit your needs. You can join other amputees in keeping fit and doing exercises every Sunday. This session is the ideal chance to try out your new limb or just come and have a workout with other amputees. Some who come to the session do not even wear their limb; they just use crutches and do the exercises. So if your limb is sore, you can still come and participate.
Have a look at some pictures from the Limbless Association User Group Conference that demonstrate some of the excercises that take place on Sunday sessions – fitness pictures
