The Thalidomide Society

9 July 2010

An association of and for thalidomide and similarly

impaired people.

Dysmelia UK Project

Dysmelia is the reduction or malformation of upper or lower limbs.

The Thalidomide Society is hoping to set up a UK wide forum for small organisations or

groups whose members have disabilities, conditions or syndromes which are similar to

those impairments caused by thalidomide and which will come under the broad definition

of dysmelia

The Society is keen to make contact with any organisation supporting families where a

child or adult may have such impairments.

The Society would like to invite such small support groups to meet up initially in the form

of a forum with support from the Thalidomide Society.

The aim would be to give such groups a more powerful voice and for the Society to assist

in passing on the experience and knowledge gained by members over the past 50 years.

We would hope to invite representatives of such Dysmelic groups to a conference next

year 2011 to meet with representatives of the Thalidomide Society to see how to take

this project forwards.

If you know of any groups that you feel might be interested in learning more about this

project, please pass on our contact details:
