Participation at the AGM is open to all current members of the Limbless Association.  If you would like to attend the Limbless Association Annual General Meeting, please fill in the Registration form at the end of your notice and return it to the Limbless Association office by 5:00 pm on Friday 24h November 2017. GUEST SPEAKERS

 

Kim Lyons

Kim worked as a RMN for 27years in various areas such as forensic, women secure Crisis Team and in different trusts around the UK. Three years ago she completed her Post Graduate CBT course at LSBU.  Due to her under graduate degree in Human Physiology she developer her interest in Long Term Conditions and specialised in managing pain. Kim’s work is mainly based on mindfulness based therapies such as MCT, ACT MBCT/MBSR. She currently works in Psychoprosthetics and is based at Harold Wood Long Term Conditions Unit.

 

Kim will be talking about the physical effects of Stress and will be undertaking a short Mindfulness session.

 

Alan Meyer

Alan studied at Strathclyde University for an Honours Degree is Prosthetics and Orthotics and graduated with Honours in August 2000.  He started working at Harold Wood as a Graduate Prosthetist in April 2001 and Clinical Manager for Prosthetics in 2008 then Clinical Services Manager in 2010. Alan currently run the Steeper contract for Prosthetics, Orthotics and Wheelchair repairs. He is involved in increasing Harold Wood’s profile and ensuring the service is well run to meet the needs of the service users.

Alan’s passion is for patient care. He feels that It is important to evolve the service to match the increasing demand of the service users within the constraints of the NHS. This is one of his biggest challenges.

Alan will be talking about the Micro-processor Control Knee policy and how it works from a centres prospective.  Alan hopes to bring along the first user of the knee from Harold Wood to talk about his experience. Accompanying them will be Robert West, the prosthetist who went through the process for the first time with the patient.’
