Become a Volunteer Visitor
To become a Volunteer Visitor, you must be a full, paying member of the Limbless Association with a minimum of two years experience as an amputee and, having overcome the practical and emotional issues related to your amputation, be in a position to pass on this positive information to others.
As part of of your application, you will be asked to provide two references; one from a medical professional, such as your Consultant, Prosthetist, Occupational Therapist, Nurse or GP and the other from a personal or professional contact, such as a colleague, friend or another member of your healthcare team who has known you for a minimum of three years. Such references must contain clear contact details in case we need to get in touch with either of your referees.
Please Note: We are not looking for personal details from your medical history, but for confirmation that you are suitable to provide positive support to other amputees.
Once we have received the references, we will ask you to complete a Disclosure Barring Services (DBS) check (formerly the Criminal Records Bureau) which requires completing a DBS form. On completion of the check, you will be sent a Volunteer Visitor welcome pack, including a VV ID card.
