As part of its Community Matters project, Waitrose Stores in West London have raised over £2000 for the Limbless Association after being contacted by Dean Heffer, our Sports+ officer. The money donated will help with the supply of kit, match and pitch fees and venue hire for LA Spurs and other sports activities promoted by the Limbless Association. The picture shows Dean and the LA Spurs team receiving the donation from Steve Yates of Waitrose.
Steve Yates, Branch Manager at the Chiswick store, said “It has been an absolute please to be able to support this cause. It is a very humbling experience to watch these guys play and observing the effort and personal expense that they contribute to keep this going and give hope to those who have suffered the loss of a limb.
At a recent session, I saw Dean encourage a nine year old boy who had recently lost his right leg to cancer to join in in a match where they went on to beat an able bodied side 3-2!. The boost that this gave that child was a true example of inspirational leadership”.
