Channel 4′s prime time TV show Teenage specials Embarrassing Bodies wants to share your story!

9th August 2010

A member of the LA is going on this show to let people know what he had gone through and to share with his school friends all the high’s and low’s he faces as an amputee in his day to day life since the accident he had in 2006. He has asked us if we could place this article on our website to try to get more people to write in with their stories on how they dealt with being a amputee and a teenager.

Channel 4′s prime time TV show Embarrassing Bodies wants to share your story! We are currently filming a brand new series of Embarrassing Bodies, C4’s highest rating programme – a long-running medical series that tackles some of the nation’s more personal health issues.

As a part of the show we include a ‘Living With’ section, a mini documentary about someone with an incurable or unchangeable condition – previously we’ve filmed a boy with Tourettes, a young person with a Colostomy Bag and children with Autism.

Our aim is to show an honest and positive portrait of people who are unable to change the way they are, but are happy and don’t understand why anyone else should have a problem with them. Through their own words, they confront the questions people are too embarrassed to ask, and with a bit of patience and humour, they are able to dispel many of the myths surrounding them!

Within the series we are making four Teenage specials, looking at the lumps, bumps and medical worries that teenagers have. As a twist, we’d like to make a section called ‘Living Without’ for these special episodes, and we are very interested to feature a teenager living without a limb.

It would be a great opportunity to make a short, personal film with them about their normal life, and include the questions people ask them, but also the ones people don’t ask!

We are looking for teenagers to get involved so if you know someone living without a limb and might wish to share their story then please get in touch for a non-obligation chat with one of the team!
